At 9:43 on June 23, 2020, China launched the last satellite in the third-generation network of China's Beidou Navigation Satellite System from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The 55th satellite in the Beidou Navigation Satellite System was sent into space by a Long March 3B carrier rocket. After a period of in-orbit tests, the new satellite will start formal operations and work with other Beidou satellites to enable users around the world to obtain all-time, all-weather and high-accuracy navigation, positioning and timing services. Its lunch marked the completion of the in-orbit construction of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and the successful conclusion of the "three-step" strategic task of Beidou satellite navigation system. It is also the first major national project to be completed in the aerospace field during the 13th Five-Year Plan.
