Commonly used bearing cages are divided into metal cages and non-metal cages according to material types, as well as composite material cages. According to the material, the bearing cage mainly includes low carbon steel stainless steel cage, bakelite/nylon cage, brass/bronze/aluminum alloy cage, etc. Bearing cages for special purposes should also meet the requirements of special working conditions, such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, self-lubricating or non-magnetic, etc.

Steel cage material

Due to its high strength, good toughness, and easy processing, steel cage materials are widely used in rolling bearings. It is often made of 08 and 10 high-quality carbon steel sheets by cold stamping. Commonly used steel cage materials are 20, 30, 45, 0Cr18Ni9, 1Cr18Ni9Ti, 40CrNiMo, ML15, ML20, etc.

Non-ferrous metal cage material

Non-ferrous metals have their special properties. For example, aluminum alloys have the characteristics of low density, good thermal conductivity and good corrosion resistance; Copper alloy has the characteristics of good thermal conductivity, small friction coefficient, good formability and high service temperature; Zinc-aluminum alloy has the advantages of low cost, low density and excellent performance.

Non-metallic cage material

Non-metal cage materials mainly include polymers and their composite materials, including nylon, phenolic tape, and PTFE. The polymer material has good strength and elasticity match. The good sliding performance allows the polymer cage to produce only a small friction when it moves relative to the surface of the lubricated rolling element, which can minimize the heating and wear of the bearing.

Brass cage

Brass cages have stamped and solid types, and stamping is only suitable for small and medium-sized. Brass has high tensile strength, and its mechanical strength is comparable to that of steel stamping cages, but its density is relatively low and its limit speed is high. Brass cages cannot be used above 300°C.

Polyamide (nylon 66) cage

The material of the polyamide (nylon 66) cage is polyamide (nylon 66). It has the advantages of high elasticity and light weight, very good sliding and self-lubricating properties. It is especially suitable for vibration shock stress or high acceleration and deceleration, or when the inner and outer rings of the bearing are inclined to each other.
