Silicon nitride powders for bearing parts are required to have the following important properties: high purity; high uniformity and fine particles; high alpha phase content. The most suitable method for preparing silicon nitride powder is the carbothermal reduction nitriding method. The powder obtained by this method contains less metal impurities, has high purity, fine particles and high α-phase content, which meets the requirements of bearing parts.

There are many preparation methods for silicon nitride ceramic bearing components, such as reaction sintering method, hot pressing sintering method, pressureless sintering method, and secondary reaction sintering method. In order to obtain a completely dense silicon nitride material, the hot isostatic pressing method is ideal.

The processing of silicon nitride ceramic bearing-related components is basically similar to that of bearing steel components, and the grinding mechanism is basically the same. However, due to the large difference between the various properties of silicon nitride and the properties of steel, there are considerable differences in grinding tools, processing coefficients, and grinding mixtures in machining. The requirements for type, shape, quantity, strength, crushing characteristics and wear characteristics are different. The abrasives currently used mainly include silicon carbide, boron carbide, diamond powder, etc.

General rolling bearings are composed of four main parts, namely outer ring, inner ring, rolling elements and cage. Since different types of bearings use different cage forms, the bearing assembly methods are also different.
