In preparation for the event, Mr. Wang Yi, Chairman of the Division's union branch and Workshop Director, developed a dedicated training program tailored to high speed spindle grinding processes. Over the course of one week, all grinding operators participated in two structured training sessions totaling six instructional hours.
On the day of the competition, Mr. Li Lingxin, Deputy Head of the High Speed Spindle Division, outlined the competition procedures and evaluation criteria. He encouraged participants to demonstrate both technical proficiency and professional discipline, emphasizing that high speed spindle manufacturing requires not only precision but also consistency and craftsmanship.
The competition consisted of two main components: theoretical assessment and practical operation. During the theoretical phase, participants demonstrated a solid understanding of high speed spindle grinding principles, machining parameters, and quality control standards. This was followed by the practical segment, which served as the core evaluation of each participant's ability to apply theory in real-world high speed spindle production scenarios.
The practical competition covered a wide range of grinding techniques critical to high speed spindle manufacturing, including surface grinding, vertical grinding, deep hole grinding, tool grinding, thread grinding, centerless grinding, compound grinding, and universal grinding. Workpieces included key high speed spindle components such as housings, shafts, and bearing seats, ensuring that the tasks closely reflected actual production requirements.
Strict precision standards were enforced throughout the competition. Participants were required to maintain outer diameter tolerances within ±0.002 mm, flatness within 0.002 mm, and coaxiality between inner and outer diameters not exceeding 0.003 mm. These requirements reflect the high precision demands of high speed spindle applications, where even minimal deviations can impact performance and reliability.
Competitors demonstrated standardized procedures including alignment, clamping, machine setup, and grinding execution. The workflow was efficient and consistent, highlighting the team's strong technical foundation in high speed spindle production. The event also integrated key operational principles such as safety management, 5S practices, and quality and efficiency improvement at the team level.
The competition atmosphere was both intense and collaborative. Experienced operator Yang Qiang, known among colleagues as a “CNC expert,” showcased exceptional control over complex grinding processes essential for high speed spindle components. Meanwhile, newer team member Zhang Zhiliang demonstrated significant progress through careful calibration and repeated adjustments, reflecting the effectiveness of training initiatives in high speed spindle skill development.
A panel of judges conducted comprehensive evaluations based on operational standardization, machining accuracy, production efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols. The transparent and structured evaluation process ensured fairness and objectivity throughout the competition.

After a full day of competition, the final results were announced. Liang Keke secured first place, while Gao Xudong and Yang Qiang shared second place honors. Liu Xiangqian, Wang Jing, and Li Jiangtao were awarded third place. Mr. He Linghui, Head of the High Speed Spindle Division, remarked that rankings are temporary and emphasized that every participant contributes unique strengths to the team.
