On September 18, the 2026 Academic Committee Meeting of the Henan Key Laboratory of High-Performance Bearing Technology was successfully held in Luoyang, China.

The meeting was organized by Luoyang Bearing Research Institute Co., Ltd. (ZYS), the laboratory's supporting institution. Representatives from the Luoyang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, members of the laboratory's Academic Committee, relevant representatives from co-construction partner Henan University of Science and Technology and Luoyang Bearing Science & Technology Co., Ltd., as well as key research personnel of the laboratory, attended the meeting.

The participants discussed emerging technologies in the bearing industry, reviewed the laboratory's development priorities, and explored new directions for technological innovation.

During the meeting, the Academic Committee carefully reviewed a special report on the laboratory's 2025 development achievements, as well as its 2026 development plan and key research priorities. In accordance with relevant procedures, the committee also conducted the review and evaluation of projects applying for the laboratory's 2026 Open Fund, with a focus on research quality and innovation potential.

Several technical presentations were also delivered, including Refinement and Control of Lower Bainite Microstructure and Tribological Properties of GCr15 Bearing Steel and Precision Design Technology and Application of High-Precision Rolling Bearings. The presentations focused on key areas such as advanced bearing material modification, precision bearing design, and testing and validation, addressing critical technical challenges and bottlenecks in the industry. The discussions highlighted the laboratory's research capabilities in fundamental bearing research and applied technology development.

The Academic Committee recognized the laboratory's progress since its restructuring in areas including scientific research and innovation, research platform development, talent cultivation, and industrial services. The committee also acknowledged the scientific and forward-looking nature of the laboratory's 2026 work plan.

Experts further provided recommendations on several key areas, including strategic positioning, research direction development, high-level talent recruitment and development, key technology breakthroughs, industry-academia-research collaboration, technology commercialization, and the development of an open and collaborative innovation system. These recommendations are expected to provide practical guidance for strengthening the laboratory's research capabilities and achieving its annual development objectives.

The successful meeting further clarified the laboratory's development priorities and research directions for the next stage, while strengthening consensus on collaborative innovation among universities, research institutes, and industry.

Moving forward, the Henan Key Laboratory of High-Performance Bearing Technology will incorporate the recommendations of the Academic Committee into its future work, further leverage the benefits of collaborative innovation, and strengthen its capabilities as a provincial-level research platform. By advancing high-level technological innovation, the laboratory aims to support the upgrading and development of the bearing industry and contribute to the advancement of high-performance bearing technologies.
